A long-term Protera client, Sports Endeavors had their SAP ecosystem hosted in a private cloud. To meet IT initiatives to modernize their environment and take advantage of evolving native cloud capabilities, Sports Endeavors and Protera determined that migrating the SAP workloads to a public cloud hyperscaler was the best path forward, with AWS as the target platform.

Protera Solution 

Protera initiated the project by performing a Cloud Adoption Framework Assessment to establish a sound foundation for the SAP landscapes, including network and landing zone design. Upfront work also included discovery, architecture design, security and governance framework development, and detailed project planning. 

With the migration plan fully developed, Protera executed a seamless migration of Sports Endeavors’ multi-tier SAP landscape from private cloud to AWS, executing multiple mock runs in a wave-based migration approach. 

Post-migration, Protera continues to provide ongoing managed services including AWS cloud infrastructure management, database management, and SAP BASIS services. Sports Endeavors leverages Protera’s SAP expertise for ongoing enhancements and upgrades for the SAP ecosystem, including NetWeaver and Vertex upgrades.

Business Outcomes  

Protera performed a non-disruptive migration of Sports Endeavors’ landscapes in 4 months, delivering an SAP environment on AWS that provides scalability, promotes growth, and improves resilience. Sports Endeavors gained enhanced SAP application performance that allows them to utilize modern DevOps and AI features within their environment. Protera also provides ongoing managed services to ensure the environment is secure, optimized, and continues to meet their business needs.
